Samra Šabanović is a Bosnian-Finnish visual artist and filmmaker based in Helsinki.

She graduated from Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, holds a Master's degree in Visual Cultures, Curating and Contemporary Art from Aalto University and is Academy of Moving People and Images alumna.

She has been working in various mediums, including film, photography, video, drawing and research. Her short film, "I Need to Tell You Something," made its debut at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2022. In 2019 she co-founded the image-based research project "I was there but you didn't see me" exhibiting in public spaces, galleries and museums in Helsinki region. 

Currently, Samra is writing her second film screenplay and developing short animations. Her artistic approach is characterized by a blend of self-deprecating humor, immersive absurdism, the concept of refusal as a political act, and meta elements that reflect a sense of doubt.
